Part of the advantage of being a lifelong Oklahoman is that I know how special a place this is. We reach out to each other and help in ways that make this such a special place to work, worship and live. Whether we are running service calls in the city or tackling projects in the country, all of us at Hometown Full Service Electric are deeply grateful for the trust that each of you places in our abilities to help solve your electrical challenges.

I received a call from the Town of Atwood, Oklahoma about electrical that needed to be done at the community storm shelter. As I spoke with Carolyn, the mayor's wife, about the need for the electricity in their community storm shelter she also brought up the heliport pad that is in place at the community center.

She told me that she had been in touch with several electrical companies, and even though they all said they would be right out to give the town a price, no one showed up. After meeting with Carolyn and going over lighting needs for the helipad for night landings, and needs for a wind sock indicating wind direction, I began to put together a proposal.

I am so excited to tell you that we were able to install all twelve green LED landing lights with a controller for pilots to use in turning on lights from inside their helicopters! We also installed an LED-lighted windsock on top of the Fire Station warehouse.

With the project complete and approved by an onsite FAA inspector, the town is now able to count on emergency medical response during times when it is needed the most. Although we hope that they never need to test the capability of emergency lighting and airlifts, I know we are all very satisfied that the people in that area are a step closer to safety thanks to the vision of the mayor and his wife.

It was a pleasure to work with the leaders of the community, and I appreciate their support during the project. They wanted to leave a legacy for the town, and they left something that will benefit the community and surrounding areas for a long time; a project that will save lives.

Projects like this are another reason that I am proud to be an Oklahoma company, working with Oklahomans for Oklahomans!
